Food in Greece is incredibly diverse; I ate many local foods as well as international foods. One of our favorite places to eat was a seat-yourself gyro shop. The owner often came and spoke to us. Once he stopped to show us pictures of himself working out. He wanted to prove that he could hang out with us.

Another place that we ate was called Meatropolis and they served many cuts of meat. I ordered the veal steak, and it was the juiciest and most tender steak I have ever eaten. It was next to a KFC where a security guard was stationed to deter pickpockets. While we were eating, a young Asian woman ran out of the KFC yelling, and the guard tried to calm her down. She ran into the street followed by (we assume) her mother, where they yelled at one another for a few seconds. The young woman threw her bag of KFC into the busy street and stormed off. We could not see her any more, and we hope she made it home.

The first day was spent looking for restaurants to eat at. We found a buffet that was only 10€ and had a wide variety of food options (pictured bottom left). Nobody remembers what the restaurant is called or where it is located relative to the hotel.

The Italian word for meal is pasto, so many restaurants serve pizza and pasta. Finding cheap food is not a problem in Rome. Every street leading from the hotel is practically covered in ristoranti (restaurants); at first the servers were annoying when they shoved menus in my face, but I have yet to regret looking at a menu. I have consumed many 5€ pizzas. The pizza on the top right (called a capricciosa pizza) started as a strange thing to try, but it quickly became my favorite. Eggs, prosciutto, and mushrooms sound disgusting in theory, but they actually compliment one another very well.
