My Work Experience

PAR Systems, Mechanical Engineering Intern
I worked on several projects in different fields of engineering. With my background in aerospace, I primarily worked on aircraft related projects, but I also did work in nuclear engineering projects. In my major project, I designed a carriage for hundreds of uniquely shaped fasteners. The carriage was designed to be less than 35 pounds. The fasteners were placed in an evenly spaced grid to simplify teaching robots where the fasteners are located. I helped design an end effector to be able to reach fasteners in tight spaces. An RFID chip was added to the carriage to identify which configuration of aircraft it was to be used on.
The other aerospace projects I worked on involved proof of concepts for project proposals. The major project that I worked on involved designing a method to more accurately find the center of a tool before it quickly presses a heating element into a fairing.
I worked on several projects for customers in the nuclear field. These projects involved reporting to customers about different robot models and information about products they were looking to purchase. I also recreated a complex assembly of over 650 components in SolidWorks from MicroStation drawings.

Meggitt Securaplane, Mechanical Engineering Intern
I was one of four mechanical engineers, so I performed work in various levels of depth. I was able to work on obsolescence, research and development, and general support for the production department. In my major project, I led the design of a compact machine to automatically focus lenses on cameras. I worked with an electrical engineering intern to select the electronics used in the project. By the end of our internships, we were able to produce a working version and successfully focus cameras with machine accuracy. My role on the project was to create CAD models and produce them. I designed precise fixtures for specific cameras that could be 3D printed and attached to the base that I designed and had CNC manufactured. I also machined the other components used on the project using the tools in the machine shop.
Outside of this project, I helped develop battery, camera, and security technology using SolidWorks. I then 3D printed or machined my models to produce prototypes quickly. In the machine shop, I worked with an end mill and other heavy machinery to manufacture prototypes and equipment used for testing in the production department. Another project that I was heavily involved in required me to redesign obsolete equipment and develop test fixtures to ensure that the equipment functioned properly.

ASTEROID, Student Researcher
I researched and created innovative concepts for space exploration and science. My major research project involved powering robots and using them to explore deep underground on other planets. I also wrote and published a report for the Earth and Space Conference in 2021. The paper discussed an in-depth conceptual plan for developing a self-sustaining lunar habitat for astronauts.

Andy B's, Server
I was their first server, so I was in charge of introducing customers to a new service, and I served sections of 50 tables during 8-10 hour shifts. As the only server, it was my job to train new servers as began working with me.
April 2018 – August 2018
Upper Crust, Server
I worked 15-20 hours a week from April until graduation. I worked 20-30 hours a week from then until I started at university. I built my communication and relationship building skills as well as performed opening and closing duties.
